Transformative HR Strategies for Inclusive Corporate Culture

Fresh and Fun: The New Wave of Workplace Culture

I'm in the airport about to board a flight for an industry conference. I see my phone ring, it is a client whom we had just finished doing some Operating Model change efforts for their gloabl team. I shared I was about to board a flight and we agreed to have a call once I had landed and gotten settled in my hotel. Here is how the conversation went:

šŸ’šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø I'm really concerned about how we continue to elevate and even maintain our culture now that we are implementing all the changes we have been working on.

šŸ’„ I hear you. I’ve been reading a lot about the new trends in workplace culture. Have you noticed how companies are trying to find a silver bullet to fix what doesn't seem to be working vs. creating what they really want?

šŸ’šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø Absolutely! It seems like every other company is trying to outdo each other with similar approaches and activities.

šŸ’„ Right? It’s like they’re all trying to create this atmosphere where employees actually want to come to work and many times their approaches are falling on deaf ears because companies aren't actually willing to listen to what employees are really telling them. What do you think is driving this gap?

šŸ’šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø I think it’s a response to the traditional, rigid corporate culture that many people found stifling. Companies are realizing that a happier workforce is a more productive one. And they don't know how to solve the complexities that are imbedded in the issue.

šŸ’„ Exactly! Plus, with hybrid work becoming more common, many organizations are trying to find ways to keep their teams engaged and connected, even from a distance.

šŸ’šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø That’s true! I’ve seen some companies hosting virtual game nights or fun challenges to keep the spirit alive. It’s a great way to build camaraderie. And it still feels like it is not enough to drive true belonging and engagement.

šŸ’„ What outcomes are you trying to drive with your team and within your company culture? How do you want to set yourself apart to attract top talent and retain your key talent you already have?

šŸ’šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø It’s all about standing out in a competitive job market. Plus, I need help in retaining employees. I want them to feel valued and engaged.

šŸ’„ Let's do it! I want you and your team to feel like you're impacting the companies mission and having fun with each other while doing just that. You know what I think we should do?

šŸ’šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø I'm not sure I know the answer to that. But, I trust you and your team. I know if I partner with you we will be able to make some significant progress. When can we meet in person to build out a plan?
